Shelley has just completed a series of paintings featuring Italy entitled Everything Italy, celebrating La Dolce Vita, which means "sweet life" in Italian. And no one lives the sweet life quite like the people of Italy!
Shelley first traveled to Italy in 2010 and spent 3 weeks meandering from Rome to Florence to Venice, through the Tuscan countryside and down to the Amalfi coast. Shelley's maternal grandfather was Italian and it had always been her dream to visit Italy. It was everything she'd imagined and more! She returned to Italy in 2013 with a group of friends to spend a week at a stunning villa on the Amalfi coast, followed by a Mediterranean cruise.
Shelley hopes the paintings you see featured in her Everything Italy series will give you a taste of the country that she loves. You'll see paintings for sale of the Colosseum in Rome, a gondelier on the canals in Venice, an iconic scene of the rolling hills in Tuscany, the stunning coast of Cinque Terre and a typical street scene in a small Italian village, complete with a gelato shop and the requisite town cat.
Shelley's next big trip will be to London, driving through the English countryside (with a quick dip into Wales) and a Norwegian Fjords cruise. This is Shelley's first big trip since the pandemic and she's excited to get a jump on this series, so look for paintings featuring her first stop - London!
Shelley's also currently obsessed with two beauties of nature: water and trees. Look for new paintings exploring these two themes and the feelings they bring: peace, quiet, calm, reflection, escape, solitude, gratitude and wonder.
