What's New?
I'm so happy to show you the start of my newest collection, which is inspired by our amazing National Parks!
It's been a dream of mine to visit as many of our National Parks as possible, but admittedly, I've gotten a slow start. Last year, I finally got to see the Grand Canyon, which inspired the first painting in this series (top painting). Previously, I'd seen a few other smaller parks (Gateway Arch, Indiana Dunes, Saguaro and White Sands), but this was the first of the major parks. This summer, I'm on an extended road trip and so far, I've seen Joshua Tree, Bryce Canyon, Zion, The Redwoods and Crater Lake.
Joshua Tree was the first national park we visited this summer and it inspired me to painting the second painting in the National Park inspired series (bottom painting). I had no idea what to expect, but I was immediately captivated by the peace and tranquility in this park. Unlike the larger (and more popular) National Parks, Joshua Tree was not crowded at all, and there was just a sense of calm. Of course, I was also very taken with the Joshua Trees, which are so quirky and fun as they shoot out in every direction.
As you can see, I've continued with my love for bright, bold colors in creating my take on these amazing parks. Neither one depicts an exact scenes from the parks, but rather are my attempt to capture the essence and "feel" of the parks. I hope you feel like you can step right in and capture the magic!
What's next?
I'm going to work hard this summer on my National Park series. Next up are Bryce Canyon and Zion, which will round out my first four paintings on 24X18 canvas. I plan on doing a few smaller paintings on 11X14 canvas sheets as well (Saguaro, Crater Lake, the Redwoods). Once I have a fuller collection, I'll be offering this series as Fine Art prints, but for now, you can grab the original of Joshua Tree (the Grand Canyon already sold) or both are available as canvas prints. If you don't already, follow me on Facebook or Instagram or join my mailing list to keep up my painting projects!
