What's New?

I'm so happy to share with you my latest collection, which is inspired by our amazing National Parks! It's been on my bucket list for a while to see all of them, but I've not gotten to that many. I hope to rectify that over the next 5 years. As you can see, I've continued with my love for bright, bold colors in creating my take on these amazing parks. My paintings don't usually depict exact scenes from the parks, but rather are my attempt to capture their essence and mood. I hope you feel like you can step right in and capture the magic!

National Parks Inspired Series

Featured on top is my newest painting in the series, Bryce Canyon, which was completed after we got back from our summer trip. Of the three I've done so far, this was the most detailed and time consuming with all of the amazing hoodoo rock formations and the different trees, plants and fauna. The unique shapes of the rocks are the result of millions of years or erosion/weathering and apparently ice wedging has been the dominant force breaking the rocks apart. How cool is that? Like Joshua Tree, Bryce Canyon was not crowded when we went, which allowed us to drive peacefully around the park and take in all the amazing views. I hope you enjoy staring at the rocks as much as I enjoyed painting them!

The next painting is Joshua Tree, which was the first national park we visited this summer. I had no idea what to expect, but I was immediately captivated by the peace and tranquility in this park. Unlike the larger (and more popular) National Parks, Joshua Tree was not crowded at all, and there was just a sense of calm. Of course, I was also very taken with the Joshua Trees, which are so quirky and fun as they shoot out in every direction. This painting sold before I even made it home, but I have full sized canvas prints available (and soon will have fine art paper prints) on my National Parks Collection page.

Last, but not least, is my painting of the Grand Canyon. We visited in 2024 and that started the inspiration for this series. Previously, I'd seen a few other smaller parks (Gateway Arch, Indiana Dunes, Saguaro and White Sands), but this was the first of the major parks. Obviously, the Grand Canyon is inspiring and impossible to capture in photos (or paintings), but I did my best. I hope you love it and it brings you the same joy and peace that it brings me.

What's next?

This summer, we went on an extended West Coast road trip and saw Joshua Tree, Bryce Canyon, Zion, The Redwoods and Crater Lake. Up next in my National Parks series is a smaller 14X11 painting of Crater Lake (which I've almost completed) done on canvas paper. I plan on doing a few more of those featuring the Redwoods and Saguaro National Park. After that, I'll be working on a larger painting of Zion National Park on 24X18 stretched canvas (same size as the first three), which I'm very excited about. In the meantime, while I'm waiting on my canvas for that painting to arrive, I'll be doing a really festive Christmas scene!
